DACAAR Secures USD 18.2 Million from UNOPS to Implement Community Resilience and Livelihoods Project in Eastern and Central Provinces Afghanistan
KABUL, Afghanistan – 4 March 2026 – The Danish Committee for Aid to Afghan Refugees (DACAAR) has signed a new grant support agreement with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) to continue the Community Resilience and Livelihoods Project (CRLP) funded by the World Bank. The project will run from 1 March 2026 to 31 December 2027.
The CRLP aims to strengthen community stability by creating short-term livelihood opportunities and delivering essential services to vulnerable populations. In the new phase, the project adds Panjshir and Kapisa provinces to its scope, building on ongoing work in Nangarhar, Laghman, Kunar, and Nuristan.

DACAAR will implement key components of the project, focusing on:
- Livelihoods Support: Creating immediate income through rural cash-for-work schemes that rehabilitate and build small-scale, climate-resilient assets.
- Social Grants: Providing critical support to households facing severe economic barriers who cannot participate in Cash for Work programs.
- Women’s Economic Activities: Improving economy of rural women with training and assets to enhance home-based businesses and improve food security.
- Strengthening Community Institutions: Building local capacity for inclusive planning, disaster preparedness, and community-led development.
The project is expected to benefit over 500,000 Afghans, providing vital support to households grappling with socio-economic hardship and natural disasters.
“This new agreement reinforces DACAAR’s commitment to responding effectively to Afghanistan's urgent humanitarian and developmental needs. DACAAR is thrilled to—once again—play a significant role in the implementation of the CRLP. The coverage, the level of community engagement, and the quality of services delivered to people is quite frankly some of the best I've seen in my years working with or in Afghanistan." Says Peder Thorning, Country Director for DACAAR.
